Youth MRF has submitted 24 634 signatures to support the initiative Minority Safepack, which aims to improve the protection of the EU citizens.


The petition was initiated by the Federal Union organization of the European nationalities (FUEN).


For the codification of the ones signed in Bulgaria came Laurent Wintze, president of the organization.


The petition managed to collect more than the necessary 1 000 000 signatures. The European citizens, who have supported the idea of this petition are more than 1 320 000. This automatically means that the European Commission must commit itself to the proposal and to launch a legislative initiative.


The Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk underlined that this is a tremendous success for all members of the Youth MRF, who have been working with great enthusiasm for the initiative, whose mere purpose is to defend the rights of the European citizens belonging to different linguistic and ethnic minorities.


“I am satisfied. The Minority Safepack success’s is a clear sign is a clear sign that EU citizens expect the institutions to take into consideration their responsibility for the protection of the minorities. A clear sign, that people do not want confrontation, but cohabitation in terms of understanding and respect. Within the EU there are about 50 million citizens belonging to an ethnic or linguistic minorities-they make Europe richer. And it is our responsibility to preserve and encourage them”, commented Ilhan Kyuchyuk.


For Minority Safepack:


Minority Safepack and eleven original proposals on how the EU should protect / promote cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe, nine of which are registered by the European Commission.




  1. Recommendation of EU to protect and encourage the cultural and linguistic diversity.

  2. Funding program for small ethnic communities.

  3. Establishing a center for language diversity.

  4. The objectives of the EU Regional Development Funds must include the protection of national minorities and the promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity.

  5. Exploring the added value of minorities to our societies and Europe.

  6. Improving the equality of stateless minorities.

  7. A common European copyright law to allow services and broadcasting in the mother tongue.

  8. Freedom of service and accepting of audiovisual content in minority regions.

  9. Promote regional (state) support for the protection of minority cultures, the media and cultural heritage.
